My Thesis Paper / Senior Project
The essence of the problem lies in the global fashion industry's heavy reliance on developing nations for manufacturing, textiles, and artisanal craftsmanship, perpetuating a narrative that sidelines their creative contributions. Through meticulous examination, my paper seeks to address this imbalance by investigating strategies for empowering developing nations within the fashion ecosystem. By scrutinizing unequal power relations and value capture between developed and developing world actors, the aim is to challenge the prevailing paradigm and advocate for a more inclusive and equitable future. The overarching goal is to not only analyze the existing issues but also to propose tangible solutions, fostering a paradigm shift that recognizes and elevates the creative capabilities of all actors in the global fashion narrative. This research represents a commitment to reshaping the industry's trajectory and contributing to a more sustainable and socially responsible framework.
